She later moved into human resources and recruiting, where she found a natural fit for her strengths and interests. As HR Director of a regional CPA firm, Rebecca partnered closely with firm leadership on matters involving organizational structure, culture, hiring, retention, leadership development, and employee engagement. She became known for her thoughtful, practical approach and for helping leaders create workplaces where people feel supported and firms can grow in healthy ways. During that time, she also taught introductory accounting courses at the University of Colorado, reflecting her continued connection to the profession.
In 2020, Rebecca launched illuminHR to focus on the work she knows and loves most: supporting CPA firms and professional service organizations with practical, right-sized HR guidance. Through consulting, workshops, courses, and speaking, she helps firms with talent acquisition and onboarding, HR audits and compliance, compensation and performance management, employee relations, coaching, HR analytics, culture and recognition, HR systems, and retreat facilitation.
Rebecca is known for leading with authenticity, integrity, and collaboration. She cares deeply about listening well, encouraging others, and helping leaders and teams grow with greater clarity and confidence. What sets Rebecca apart is her ability to make people feel safe, understood, and not judged while still telling the truth. She brings clarity without coldness, encouragement without fluff, and structure without rigidity, helping leaders address difficult issues in a way that feels steady, respectful, and productive.
Beyond her professional work, Rebecca is a wife and mother of two boys who value growth, curiosity, and new experiences. She has traveled extensively and enjoys learning from different cultures and perspectives, bringing that same warmth and openness into the work she does every day.
